Press releasesPrince Charles receives CLAAS combine harvesterPrince Charles has been presented with a miniature combine harvester from CLAAS as a gift during his visit to troops in Gütersloh. Harsewinkel's Mayor Sabine Amsbeck-Dopheide gave him the TUCANO model as a present from the "combine harvester town of Harsewinkel".
Sabine Amsbeck-Dopheide presenting a miniature combine harvester to Prince Charles. Maria Unger, Mayor of Gütersloh (centre), is also pleased at the original gift. The Crown Prince was pleased with the CLAAS combine harvester. "He really was familiar with the name of the company", said the Mayor afterwards, "perhaps because he is himself a farmer and large land-owner." Charles enquired whether the drought was causing problems for the farmers, to which Amsbeck-Dopheide replied in the affirmative.
The Crown Prince entered his flourishing signature in the three Golden Books of Gütersloh, Harsewinkel and Herzebrock-Clarholz. Without further comment, simply signing his name "Charles". Every year in the summer, Prince Charles visits the British troops stationed in north Germany. And he had been perfectly briefed in the helicopter about the three Mayors and their municipalities. He listened carefully and remembered a lot. Of Maria Unger (Gütersloh), he knew that she was a keen jogger and sometimes even ran with British people. He knew that Jürgen Lohmann (Herzebrock-Clarholz) was already in his third period of office. And of Sabine Amsbeck-Dopheide (Harsewinkel), he knew enough so that he did not even try to pronounce her name! |
