Research and Development

Research and Development

This area is off-limits to visitors – here, behind closed doors, the balers of the future are developed. An important factor in researching new systems is field testing. In contrast to all other technical fields, agricultural machines can be tested for only a short time during the year, namely during harvest time. However, for the Research and Development department, harvest time is all year round, because CLAAS tests the machines of the future at multiple test facilities around the globe – it's always harvest time somewhere in the world.

Ullrich Hesselmann (QUADRANT Development Manager): "In addition to our test facilities in southern Europe, South Africa and New Zealand, it makes sense to also put our balers to the test with contractors and on large farms all over Germany. Through personal use of the machines under the most diverse conditions, the strengths and weaknesses of the design can be determined quickly and accurately. Direct exchange of experiences with the customer naturally plays an important role here. "
