Paintwork

Paint protects the valuable machine from rust – here, CLAAS is committed to maintaining the highest quality standards. All sheet-metal parts are hot-dip-galvanised, then, like the other parts, are carefully washed and phosphated, and then are primed and coated with the top-coat lacquer as typically used at CLAAS. All parts are painted before assembly. This method ensures that parts that are bolted together are optimally protected against rust. The machine is exceptionally well protected, and therefore has a high resale value.

All connection parts are chrome-plated, including bolts, nuts, washers, pins, spring clips and moving parts such as springs, as well as parts that would be affected by paint, such as the retainer plates of the knotter. This means they are provided with a very hard chrome coating and, accordingly, are effectively protected against rust.
