Tractors

1993

The CLAAS XERION 2000 large tractor was presented to the public for the first time. The XERION developed by CLAAS combined the performance expected of a modern tractor with that of an agricultural vehicle system. The cab could be moved into three different positions, allowing for a range of possible applications: firstly, as a traditional tractor with central cab position, secondly as a vehicle system with 180° rotatable driver's cab with central and rear central positions, and thirdly as a transport specialist with cab mounted above the engine for favourable hitching options for trailers. Adaptation devices available for the XERION additionally facilitate versatile use of the machine. A further feature of the XERION is the award-winning, infinitely variable HM-8 transmission developed by CLAAS itself.

2003

Following the company's acquisition of a majority share of Renault Agriculture, CLAAS expanded its product range to include standard tractors. In the former Renault tractor factory in Le Mans, France, the first CLAAS tractors to sport the famous seed-green livery were produced that same year and showcased to the public for the first time at the Agritechnica. The tractor range from CLAAS at the time comprised four model series in seed green: the all-rounder model CELTIS, the premium-class tractor ARES, the large tractor ATLES and the regal-class XERION, manufactured in Harsewinkel.

2004

Market launch of the new large tractor, the XERION 3300. With the overhauled XERION 3300, the CLAAS range now included a versatile tractor in three different variants: the XERION TRAC, developing 335 hp, with infinitely variable ZF Eccom 3.5 transmission, RABA steering axles and electronic four-wheel steering with six steering programs; the XERION TRAC VC, distinguished in particular by its rotatable cab; and the XERION SADDLE TRAC, with cab permanently attached to the front axles.

2006

The CLAAS AXION, available in five different variants from 163 to 260 hp, was the first tractor to be produced at the former Renault Tractors factory in Le Mans to bear the seed-green livery right from the beginning. The machine's development began at the end of 2003, shortly after which tractor production was incorporated into the CLAAS family. Excellent comfort, enhanced ease of handling and high output coupled with low fuel consumption and high reliability were the focus of the development of the new AXION.

The 6.8-litre, six-cylinder DPS engine installed in the CLAAS AXION satisfied not only the TIER 3a emissions standard, but also overdelivers on the fuel consumption requirements of the former TIER 2 technology, thanks to its state-of-the-art engine technology. CLAAS was thus able to deliver a further modern tractor for large agricultural businesses, contracting companies and machine syndicates.

2007

CLAAS unveiled its new ARION 500 and 600 series tractors at the Agritechnica. With performance ranges from 112 to 155 hp, CLAAS developed a wide range of tractors to cover the respective requirements of international customers. With the CLAAS POWER MANAGEMENT boost, an additional 20 hp could be developed on the larger ARION 540 and ARION 640 models to tackle the very toughest jobs. The new ARION series machines were equipped with the convenient HEXASHIFT transmission to automate group shifting, and facilitate shifting without engaging the clutch. All ARION series machines achieved a top speed of either 40 km/h or 50 km/h at a fuel-saving engine speed of 1,900 rpm.

CLAAS AXION with infinitely variable CMATIC transmission variant. The AXION became available in five different model variants from 163 to 225 hp (120 to 165 kW ECE R24) and bridged the gap between the ARES 600 and the ATLES. The main components of the modern tractor were newly designed from the ground up. The machine was the first tractor to sport the seed-green livery from day one. Its development began in late 2003, when tractor production was being incorporated into the CLAAS family.

Unveiling of the XERION 3800 large tractor. The XERION, equipped with a 379-hp engine, became a true multifunctional machine with new CLAAS SEQUENCE MANAGEMENT automatic headland control, GPS-controlled steering and ISOBUS connection. Thanks to its tried-and-tested rotating TRAC VC cab, the driver enjoys a familiar, perfect all-round view.

2009

CLAAS introduced a compact tractor with the ARION 400. With six engine sizes, the new compact machines from CLAAS covered the performance range between 90 hp/66 kW and 125 hp/92 kW (according to ECE R24). With its characteristics and dimensions, the ARION 400 is strategically positioned between the ARION 500 and the AXOS.

CLAAS showcased its two new XERION models 5000 and 4500 at the Agritechnica event 2009. Alongside the two models XERION 3800 and 3300 in the class up to 400 hp, CLAAS extended its tractor range with these two new models up to and in excess of 500 hp.

2011

In Hall 6 at the SIMA, CLAAS offered a sneak preview of the new AXION 900. Four models in the 280–400 hp range supplemented the now well-established AXION 800 series, developing 164–260 hp, and the XERION 3300 to 5000, developing 330–530 hp. The AXION 900 was the first CLAAS tractor model to meet the requirements of the TIER 4 emissions standard, and was the first machine to utilise CLAAS POWER SYSTEMS (CPS). CPS embodies the optimal combination of newly developed components and technologies in the drive train.

2012

With the new ARION 500/600 series, CLAAS now offered all the technology and comfort to be expected in a CLAAS large tractor in the 140- to 184-hp performance range as well.

The four-cylinder models of the ARION 500 series demonstrated particular flair in PTO and front loader operations, thanks to their versatility and power potential. The six-cylinder models of the ARION 600 series were highly impressive in transport operations both on the road and in the field, with high pulling power and smooth running characteristics.

2013

Unveiling of the new CLAAS AXION 800. Featuring an entirely new design, the machine takes its place in the family of new CLAAS tractors with engine sizes of 200 to 270 hp. As the first series to be produced in the Le Mans plant, the machines are already equipped with Stage IV (Tier 4f) compliant engines that meet all stringent future emissions control requirements.

In the new AXION 800, too, CLAAS has remained faithful to the successful basic concepts with which the 800 series first set benchmarks: the machines feature a compact construction with an extended wheelbase and the equipment and operating concepts CIS and CEBIS. In the first stage, the HEXASHIFT transmission is provided, to be followed some time later by the infinitely variable CMATIC transmission.
