New developments in EASY (Efficient Agriculture Systems)

EASY – now with increased mobility and comfort

Paderborn, October 2013. All of CLAAS's expertise in electronics is brought together under the EASY (Efficient Agriculture Systems) name. CLAAS is launching two new developments.

CLAAS TELEMATICS – with a new website and as an app

The new TELEMATICS website boasts two distinctive features: A sophisticated design and an intuitive user interface that is easy to navigate. Users can now access detailed information from the individual applications a lot quicker. They are also able to visualise important data and calculate process-related key figures. Furthermore, the new website offers visitors a far greater number of functions. The most important ones are APDI and TONI.

APDI (Automatic Process Data Interpretation) automatically transfers customer-specific and surface-specific working data from the machines to the CLAAS TELEMATICS server. The driver does not need to intervene in the process. The server prepares the data so that it can be recalled and used for different purposes, such as record keeping on the office PC, calculating costs or planning procedures for contractors, and promptly issuing invoices.

TONI (Telematics ON Implement) allows users to record, analyse and optimise the working data from both the tractor and the implement. TELEMATICS will be available for the AXION 900/800 and ARION 600/500 tractors from 2014. Farmers or farm contractors will require an ISOBUS-enabled implement, such as the QUADRANT square baler, in addition to a TELEMATICS-enabled tractor.

In future, users will also be able to use CLAAS TELEMATICS on the move. CLAAS has developed an app that runs on smartphones with an iOS or Android operating system. The app can be used in basically the same way as the new website. It is free of charge for all CLAAS customers who use TELEMATICS. A free demo version of the app is also available for all interested customers to try out and learn to use the functions of CLAAS TELEMATICS.

The TELEMATICS iOS app will be available from mid November 2013 at the Apple app store, the TELEMATICS Android app from December 2013 at the Google Play Store and the new TELEMATICS web application from April 2014.

CLAAS steering system – two new control terminals

The new S7 is the successor to the S3 control terminal and in future will be used as the standard control terminal for all CLAAS steering systems. The new S10 also features a number of additional functions. Both control terminals use either steering valve technology or the GPS PILOT FLEX steering wheel, which was launched at SIMA. The control terminals support all the driving modes that CLAAS offers in its systems. The standard dual frequency receiver for the different correction signals from EGNOS to RTK is now integrated in the housings. This means that antennas do not need to be repositioned when switching to another correction signal. With standard equipment, the S7 and S10 work with EGNOS; OMNISTAR, BASELINE and RTK corrections and GLONASS reception can be activated via the terminal menu if desired.

Users who only want to use their control terminal for the steering function should opt for the 7" touchscreen S7. It boasts the very latest technology and is the best solution for this particular purpose. Users who require additional functions, however, should choose the S10 with its considerably larger 10.4" touchscreen. The touchscreen on the S10 shows either individual application screens, one full-screen image from a single camera, three screens of different applications, or all four camera images at the same time.

With standard equipment, the S10 is designed to operate the steering systems. Users also have the ability to control ISOBUS implements and connect up to four CLAAS PROFI CAM cameras in parallel. Comprehensive reference line management and SECTION VIEW are also available (section width control display). The S10 can be enhanced to offer many other functions through the use of additional modules.

AUTO TURN automatic headland control also provides new functions. The adaptive AB contour, for example, re-records existing AB contours in sections, such as when travelling round obstacles. Another feature that makes work easier is the favourites menu. Users can design their own main menu and set it to show up to eight of the functions they use the most.

The new S7 and S10 control terminals will be launched step by step from spring 2014.
