Alfons Ottofrickenstein

It can do more than it claims...

When Alfons Ottofrickenstein travels to construction sites, he uses the SCORPION - equipped with tow bar and pneumatic brake system - as a tractor to tow a low-loader carrying an 8.5 ton excavator. The tractortrailer combination has a gross weight of 19.5 tons. "This saves me an extra trip, and there's no need for a truck. I also have the flexibility to any kind of work on the construction site whenever needed. This degree of flexibility is greatly appreciated by my clients."

"The heaviest concrete component weighs 3.3 tons, and the SCORPION can carry it almost to the limit of its boom extension. In this regard, the all-wheel steering and the manoeuvrability of our SCORPION are further advantages. Alternatively, going into gardens with a large excavator would leave much more tracks."

"The VARIPOWER gearbox is enormously powerful - particularly in the lower speed range up to 20 kph. The power of the SCORPION really becomes apparent during earth-oving, for example. With the 1.5 m3 shovel, we can easily clear construction sites. The SCORPION is ideal for filling basements, because you don't have to get as close to the construction pit."

"The cab is wide and spacious. The deep front windscreen provides a clear view upwards. The right-hand joystick controlled boom is a good feature. There is ample hydraulic power on tap, and the hydraulic fluid capacity of 150 litres allows multiple functions to be performed simultaneously. The power is there - simple as that!"

"The specifications in the brochure are by no means an exaggeration. It can usually do more than is claimed - so it has lots in reserve. It will amaze you sometimes!"
