CONTOUR animation

All mower models in the DISCO CONTOUR range are equipped with ACTIVE FLOAT hydropneumatic suspension. In contrast with mechanical suspension, ACTIVE FLOAT works by means of hydraulic damping. The driver can regulate the suspension directly from the cab via a single-acting hydraulic connection to the tractor. This is what "ACTIVE" refers to. The driver can actively adjust the weight of the mower unit, without having to stop or get out of the cab. A large, integrated nitrogen accumulator provides suspension, or compensation, as the mower unit tracks the ground contours. Pressure in the system can be increased until the mower is fully suspended. This allows the unit effectively to "hover" over the grass cover. This can be particularly useful when mowing at field edges, or when encountering other obstacles.

The mowing on slopes shown in the animation clearly demonstrates the effect of side drift. Grass cover damage and forage contamination are by and large caused by the tractor slipping sideways out of the path of travel. By regulating the suspension in response to the conditions, the driver can effectively counteract these forces. In DLG tests, ACTIVE FLOAT was awarded top marks for both ground pressure and forage quality.
