SUNSPEED for sunflowers

SUNSPEED - a sunny outlook.

Armed with many good intentions, CLAAS began to develop a cutterbar particularly designed for sunflowers – the SUNSPEED perfectly fulfils them all:

  • Maximum surface output
  • Minimum loss
  • Higher safety on the job
  • Minimum set-up times
  • Optimum operating comfort

Functional principle

Once the sunflowers have been collected by the shuttles, the hydraulically adjustable regulator plate helps to push the flower heads forwards. At the same time, the snapping roller prevents them from being cut too soon. This makes it possible for the heads to reach the specially developed reel with its tines and additional rubber position adapters. The reel conveys the cut heads to the intake auger, which forwards them to the feed rake conveyor.

An extremely adaptable system.

  • Height and rpm of the reel can be adjusted hydraulically
  • Adjustable cover plates keep the stalks in a secure position, therefore only the sunflower blossoms are harvested.
  • The gap between the seed pans can be adapted to the relative stalk diameter via adjustment rails – nothing gets jammed and harvest runs like clockwork
  • As the gradient of the seed pans is also adjustable, they are flexible and can adapt to the most diverse crop conditions

Conversion of the standard cutterbar for sunflower harvest.

The CLAAS can be fitted with an additional accessory for the harvesting of sunflowers. Here pointed metal pans are fitted to the cutterbar. In addition, special dividers are used and paddles are fitted to the reel tines. This is how quickly the sunflower header is ready for use.
